Shorter days, breezy winds and yes, even a drop or two of rain—it seems like it’s just starting to feel like fall in San Luis Obispo when Turkey day comes and goes and Christmas lights and candy canes replace leaf wreaths and pumpkin pie. While I welcome gingerbread lattes, Home Alone marathons (the original is still the best) and gift exchanges with open arms, I’m not exactly ready to say farewell to fall just yet.
With Thanksgiving in mind and before it’s no longer acceptable to order a Pumpkin Spice Latte at Starbucks, it just seems right to share a couple of “fall favorites” in the kitchen. At Ambiance, it goes without saying that we love tights, scarves, chunky knits and all things cozy, so with that in mind, here’s two “cozy” fall treats to try before peppermint mochas take center stage and Mariah Carey tells us, once again, that all she wants for Christmas is us.
I don't need to remind you how wonderful pumpkin is, but if you're ready for a little something new, switch it up with butternut squash. This soup makes for a perfect dinner on a crisp night. Add a grilled brie and fig sandwich. Life. Complete.
If
you are still on the pumpkin grind, you'll love this pumpkin bread recipe. The secret ingredient, you ask? Sherry! Proof that, as usual, wine makes everything better. Give this one a go before pumpkin season is over; I promise you won't be disappointed. Happy Baking!
