If you’re looking for one item to update your wardrobe for Fall, all you need is a little wine! The color, that is... Merlot, Burgundy, Bordeaux... They're all fresh and having a major moment in fashion. The runways were covered with this rich moody hue and the newest way to wear it is piled on with a mix of tones. If you’ve been clothes shopping lately, you know what I’m talking about. As Rachel Zoe would say, “I die for it.”
Fashion veterans such as Jason Wu, Diane von Furstenberg, Christian Siriano, Zac Posen and Badgley Mischka, as well as style experts such as Nina Garcia and Victoria Beckham are captivated by it. The rich color is so pervasive this season, they’re calling it the “new black”. The most-watched designers sent burgundy designs en masse down the fall runway. We saw tailored pieces, men’s and women’s suits, oversized sweaters, coats, evening gowns and even shoes taking on this bodacious color.
For those of you who adore deeper shades such as black, navy and gunpowder, burgundy is a great color to introduce into your fall wardrobe. It looks fabulous on most complexions and blends effortlessly into any style scheme. Not to mention, burgundy pairs seamlessly with your typical Fall colors, including deep blues, oranges and caramels. Burgundy (also referred to as the “bordeaux” shade), is a strong focal point for our current and upcoming collections at Ambiance. Katie and Kalsee helped illustrate the power and versatility of this pretty color, and showed us how to do it right.
