Get your Greek on!  I rolled up the sleeves on an oversized white tee, added a gold rope belt, loads of VSA jewelry, Heather Gardner for Tigerlily earrings, and Calleen Cordero gladiator sandals.  DONE!

Bonus Points: Braid your hair in lots of small pieces and pull it all back into a goddess-like chignon.

Costume in your closet, idea no.5

It's no accident that this is look no.5 and though I've been so anxious to share it with you, I just couldn't pass up the opportunity to put it in that order.  This was by far my very favorite look from our Costume In Your Closet series.  SO much fun.  Though this look is mostly about Coco's attitude, her unmistakable look is actually easier to achieve than I realized.  It's all about the pearls... Any black and white cardigan will work for this, I paired mine with a simple sheath skirt from Hard Tail.  I used about 900 bobbi pins to pin my hair into a faux bob under that little vintage fascinator, and added some black flats.  Easy!

Bonus Points: Define your brows with an eyebrow pencil or powder, give lots of side-eye, and add her signature cigarette holder.  I may or may not have stolen a black straw from the coffee shop for that last bit, and wrapped some washi tape around one end.  You know... hypothetically.

Classic Halloween...  And who says you need a pointy hat to be a witch?!  Remember The Craft?  For this look we paired the French Courtship slip by Free People, with our favorite booties from Calleen Cordero.  Keep your hair extra messy and don't skimp on the eyeliner.

Bonus Points: Master your evil glare without laughing.  Harder than you think!

This one is especially fun!  And ohmygosh, SO easy.  I layered two vintage nighties (so they weren't too sheer), added lots of liquid liner, paired a bouffant hairstyle with a Ban.do headband, and slipped on our favorite flats by Yosi Samra!

Bonus points: Carry a copy of the book, and empty prescription bottle, or both!

Hey Halloweenies!  For idea no. 2 we went wild with a Free People jean jacket, Chaser tee, oversized Band.do headband, and vintage leopard spandex.

Bonus points: Be very liberal with the hairspray and blue eyeshadow, then steal your toddler's plastic microphone!  RAWR!

There's a COSTUME in your CLOSET!

First, allow me to recap...  at this time last year, I was super busy with
work, home, and costuming three kiddos to look like this:

Which meant that my own Halloween costume was reduced to this:
Ummm...

This year, I've been informed that the Wizard of Oz was my last hurrah in family theme-costuming.  Hey, at least I went out with a bang.  What does that mean for this year?  NO EXCUSES for costume fail laziness!  Hey, Kahlua Monster Mudslide shirt, it's been fun- but you're sitting this one out.  Yesterday, I went about proving to myself that, with not much effort, it was possible to pull a DOZEN cute costumes right out of my closet.  Really!  So if you're stumped for ideas, and in the market for suuuper simple, quick and fun costume ideas this year- you're in for a treat.  We'll be posting a new costume every day from now until Hallween(ish).  Step away from the lingerie-inspired  devil/angel/nurse/cat, open your closet doors and get excited!

For this quick and easy costume, I pinned my hair into a faux-bob, paired a striped Splendid tee with black 7 For All Mankind denim, and topped it off with a vintage beret.  Bonus points: Add a white face, round blush, and red lip.  VOILA!
