There's a COSTUME in your CLOSET!
First, allow me to recap... at this time last year, I was super busy with
work, home, and costuming three kiddos to look like this:
Which meant that my own Halloween costume was reduced to this:

This year, I've been informed that the Wizard of Oz was my last hurrah in family theme-costuming. Hey, at least I went out with a bang. What does that mean for this year? NO EXCUSES for costume fail laziness! Hey, Kahlua Monster Mudslide shirt, it's been fun- but you're sitting this one out. Yesterday, I went about proving to myself that, with not much effort, it was possible to pull a DOZEN cute costumes right out of my closet. Really! So if you're stumped for ideas, and in the market for suuuper simple, quick and fun costume ideas this year- you're in for a treat. We'll be posting a new costume every day from now until Hallween(ish). Step away from the lingerie-inspired devil/angel/nurse/cat, open your closet doors and get excited!

For this quick and easy costume, I pinned my hair into a faux-bob, paired a striped Splendid tee with black 7 For All Mankind denim, and topped it off with a vintage beret. Bonus points: Add a white face, round blush, and red lip. VOILA!

Fall Lookbook trivia... Are they real?
It's here, it's HERE!!! We're so excited to share our new Fall lookbook with you at last. It's fun, the girls look beautiful, and this time we really pushed ourselves to include a lot of original content. We hope you LOVE it as much as we do.
One funny thing I've noticed is that everyone (E V E R Y O N E) has asked me about those birds you see in the cover shot above... And it's the same question every time.
"Is that real?"
Were you wondering too??? Ok, ok. The truth is... ***drumroll, please*** YES! They are absolutely real. I have no idea what type of birds they are, but on the morning of our shoot, at our first location - Laguna Lake, we were all a little sleepy, a little nervous, and trying hard to get into a Fall vibe - smack dab in the middle of Summer. After just a few minutes, we noticed hundreds of little black birds hanging out in this big, empty field. Of course I wanted to include them in a shot, but as we moved closer, the flock became skittish. I wasn't sure when they would all take off, or which direction they would go; so I asked Kalsee to walk backwards, facing me. She's such a pro. She traversed the lumpy field, BACKWARDS, moving closer and closer until BAM, they all lifted off the ground at once and flew for their lives! As they lifted into the air, I shouted "NOW!" to Kalsee and she really came through- I mean, look at that hair! The girl knows how to werk it. In a split second, we had this shot, and it was so fun and so thrilling, I knew immediately that we were in for a great day.
